Deutsches Museum
Orientation System
Workpartner: Markus Gillhuber
The orientation system for the "Deutsche Museum" is also based on the three-dimensional thought of the museum´s founder. To communicate three dimensions in the signs, they come out of the walls at different angles. The width of the angle depends on the distance to the visitor´s destination. This creates its own dynamics.
To communicate the color code of the different building levels, we used the space created through the angle between the sign and the wall . The backs of the signs is colored and with the influence of natural light the visitor can see a colored reflection on the white painted wall. This transparent reflection of the colors on the wall refers to the transparent layer of the signet.
